This Web Site has been set-up
to honour the past and present Grand Masters and Masters
of Muay Thai, and to highlight their achievements and
great acts of bravery & valour.
For it is they who have brought with them the knowledge,
skill & rich Cultural Heritage
which is Muay Thai from the past to the present day. The
information on this Site has been
compiled with the assistance of the Department of Physical
Education, the Office of the
Culture Commission of Thailand, and the I.M.T.F Executive
Committee from the
Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Site has also been set-up for the benefit of all Muay
Thai practitioners throughout the World, so that everyone
will at last now know who are the Authentic Grandmaster
& Masters
of Muay Thai, or those who are not. You will also be able
to check out your own Instructors position in relationship
to them. Such as who their teacher was and who was their
teachers teacher. Or whether your Instructor is officially
recognised by them or not. So this will enable you to
personally evaluate your own position in this.
We have included a comprehensive List of the Grandmasters,
from the earliest known ones, upto the present day. This
information will be updated whenever anyone new is Granted
this esteemed Title. Each Grandmaster or Master has been
allocated their own section on the Web Site, which includes
documentary evidence or relevant copy and photos whenever
it has been possible. Such as - their best or most favourite
techniques, also the advice which they would give to some
one starting up training in Muay Thai today!
There is a special section on the Site which covers the
special practices used by the Grandmasters & Masters
of Muay Thai. Such as the very little known magical rituals
and the use of amulets, special herbs & potions to
gain protection. We also discuss the relevance of the
special ritual dance - the Ram Muay and accompanying Traditional
music with regards
to their fighters pre-fight mental preparations. Some
of the other topics which we discuss in this section are
- the Wai Kru Ceremony and the Wai Kru day and its relevance.
We also discuss the I.M.T.F Curriculum which is used by
Instructors throughout the World, and its relevance for
Grading upto Master Level.
If we have missed-out anyone who should be on this List
we are very sorry and would be grateful to here
about them.
The information should be submitted for evaluation by
the Kru MuayThai Executive Committee, to:
